Preventive maintenance and stucco repair will keep your homes exterior looking great and extend the life of the stucco. Although painting stucco will fill any tiny hairline cracks less than a credit-card width, anything larger requires an elastic type sealant that you brush onto the stucco. Serious stucco problems, such as wider movement cracks or loose framing require a professional repairperson. You cannot fix these problems with paint or patches.
When doing stucco repairs on your home, make sure the temperature will remain about forty degrees Fahrenheit. This way your stucco does not dry too quickly and crack. To prevent water damage to your house, clean your stucco after the repairs are done and not before.
